The DRC conflict has been going on for decades. Thousands of innocent lives have been lost while scores of women, children and the elderly have either become internally displaced or rendered refugees. International and regional diplomacy and mediation efforts by bodies such as the UN, AU, SADC, EAC, ICGLR and others have not provided a lasting solution to the plight of the ordinary Congolese whose lives have been affected by the decades-long conflict.
